Opening Night Fundraiser for
Los Angeles Ballet
A special behind-the-scenes experience awaited the opening night event guests of Balanchine – ‘see the music, hear the dance’ at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse on February 20, 2010. Along with gourmet food and drink, they were treated to the opportunity to observe the company’s warm-up class and to share a preview of an exciting new film, “In Balanchine’s Classroom”. The evening was topped off in grand style by the electrifying Los Angeles Ballet performances of Serenade, Kammermusik No. 2, and Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.2.

Supporting Los Angeles Ballet
People came from the worlds of entertainment, finance, healthcare and other industries to a gala at the Bel-Air home of Stephanie Murray in support of Los Angeles Ballet. Guests enjoyed dinner in the garden and a performance of "The Evangelist,"originally created for Neary and Christensen, and selections from the great choreographer George Balanchine.

Los Angeles Ballet announces the formation of the Los Angeles Ballet Guild in September 2009.
The mission of LABG is to provide a vital link between Los Angeles Ballet, its artistic and executive leadership, its board of directors, and the southern California community. It exists to support the mission of LAB and provide the necessary assistance to organize all performances. Through its activities and fundraising, the Guild is by nature philanthropic, creative, entrepreneurial, and industrious. LABG is the major support group of LAB.

Thordal Christensen, Los Angeles Ballet's Co-Artistic Director, Makes His Choreographic Debut on SYTYCD
Thordal Christensen choreographed a Romeo and Juliet pas de deux for SYTYCD competitors Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi that aired on July 1st, 2009. This marked the first time classical ballet was introduced as a component of the competition.

Colleen Neary Travels to Italy and Japan
In her capacity as a repetiteur for the George Balanchine Trust, Ms. Neary was in Milan, Italy, in April and May, staging Apollo for La Scala Ballet. In June she is in Tokyo, setting Symphony in C on K-Ballet.

Event for LAB with the Cast of “MAD MEN”
A delightful party in honor of Los Angeles Ballet was held at the historic South Pasadena home of Paige and Scott Hornbacher, generously co-hosted by Ariel and Jeff Carpenter.
The fun evening included entertainment by the Emmy award-winning cast of Mad Men and a silent auction that netted
over $14,000 for LAB.
